My engineering work at Imos, LSI Logic and later at 8x8
all revolved around DSP of some sort or another, mostly related to
image, video or audio processing. I understand the customers and
technologies for:
VCD, DVD, Videoconference, Videophone, HDTV comprising
the following standards: H.261, H.263, H.264, MPEG1, MPEG2, G.711,
G.722, G.723, G.728, G.729, MP3, H.320, H.323, H.324, CCIR601, CCIR656,
UDP, RTCP, TCP/IP, RSVP, SIP, MGCP.
VoIP
I also have experience with VoIP, which comprises many
of the standards listed above, some of the same consumer and prosumer
type customers in addition to the telecom and networking giants here and
abroad.
Embedded Systems
My history at 8x8 exposed me to the design and
architecture of SoC and microprocessor based embedded systems, Posix
operating systems and embedded software with multiple real-time
channels. Debugging and support of microprocessor based systems
including tools, reference designs and documentation
ASICs
The ASIC business requires a good understanding of EDA
tool flows, synthesis, RTL analysis, back end, parametric extraction and
mask making. Also, semiconductor IP, FPGA capabilities and constraints,
the use and management of engineering design services groups. Issues
related to libraries, clocking and PLLs, high speed interfaces (LVDS,
PCI-Express, and similar)
