Akula is a J105 34 foot, one
design, racing yacht. On San Francisco Bay there are
about 65 identical
J105s and we usually see 25 or 30 of
them on the water at any given regatta. Akula will race
about 12 events in 2006 - check out our
schedule. Akula requires a
crew of six: Driver, mainsail
trimmer, jib trimmer, pit, mast and foredeck. Akula's
crew is 100% weekend warriors; professionals are not
allowed to race J105's per class rules. The crew has a mix
of experience from those that began competitive sailing
in 2004 to experts with years of yacht racing history. The goal is
to win, but have fun doing so. Check out our
